2nd edition of digital communication and project management training for artists and cultural actors – April 2023

The training took place at Kaddu Yaraax / Centre Culturel Hann Bel-Air from April 3rd to 14th, 2023,and was supported by the City of Dakar.

The goal of this project is to strengthen artists and cultural agents capacities in order to promote the formalization and professionalization of the Senegalese cultural sector by improving their skills in project management and online communication.

The profile of the participants was multidisciplinary, among which were artists from the field of theater, urban cultures, but also migration, communication and audiovisual.

The training is seen as a learning framework where we can all learn from each other, through sharing and collaboration. The interactive format of the training allows to adapt the learning pace to the group and to develop the contents according to their own needs.

The goal of the training is to give theoretical bases and to put them into practice. We worked in groups where the essential elements of a project or a website were developed, and in each case, exercises were done to reinforce the learning process.

During the personal development module, the need to value the talents and potentials of each person was emphasized, as well as self-confidence in order to improve the quality of life, the realization of one’s aspirations and dreams.

An atmosphere of cooperation and exchange was created among all, which allowed the expansion of the network of artists and cultural actors created in the first edition and which aims to resolve doubts, share calls for applications and resources around the content of the training.

Almost all participants belong to associations or are part of cultural enterprises, which has a direct impact on their own structures since they can either share the knowledge or implement the contents taught and thus strengthen the Senegalese cultural sector.

This year, we included at the end of the training the workshop “The body and technology” jointly facilitated with Fatou Cissé, as part of the project Thinking technology, a laboratory for reflection on the impact of technology where the body plays an important role in the development of this reflection.

During the graduation ceremony, we were honored by the presence of the representative of the city of Dakar, Mr. Babacar Sall and the managers of Kaddu Yaraax.

The closing ceremony ended with the presentation, by the company Kaddu Yaraax, of an excerpt from Molière’s play translated into Wolof, “Médicin malgré lui (Doctor in spite of himself), and by the interpretation of a tale by a couple of participants and of course we ate the Ndogou together prepared by the pastry shop Kiné Diop
