Digital defence
In the era where we are all connected, the “virtual” world has blurred the concept of privacy, trying to identify privacy to wanting to hide something but privacy is not about hiding – it is about autonomy, power and control; it is about your ability to decide how you present yourself to the world through the Internet.
Through some workshops we want to learn to be aware of how our information is being shared in Internet, our digital trace, how online surveillance works and learn ways to prevent it, to protect ourselves or avoid it.
In these workshops we will present the basics, including tips for safer use of social networking platforms and cell phones. We will see what tools there are to help us secure our devices and strategies that can prevent us from being too exposed to digital threats.
We will learn how to protect the sensitive data stored on your computer, and how to preserve the anonymity of your communications on the Internet, by understanding what is a VPN, how to use cryptography or the use of the TOR browser for anonymous browsing.
